ARE YOU A PERSON WITH A DISABILITY WHO HAS HAD DIFFICULTY ACCESSING HEALTH CARE IN A

WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS HOSPITAL?

  • Was the hospital equipment accessible to you?

  • Were you given adequate physical assistance during transfers onto examining tables?  Were the transfers done properly and efficiently?

  • Did the hospital schedule enough time for testing or procedures to meet your specific needs?

  • Were architectural barriers such as narrow doors or hallways, bathrooms, elevator space, ramps and service entrances noted?

  • Did you receive effective communication and/or interpreters?

  • Did you receive poor quality of care because of your disability?

  • Did you meet other barriers in your attempts to access healthcare?

The Disability Law Center has begun a project to address systemic barriers for people with disabilities in Western Massachusetts hospitals.  We are interested in hearing from people with all disabilities about their experiences.  Any interviews would be done in strict confidence, and any information learned will not be used without explicit permission from the individual interviewed.

If you have encountered barriers to health care access in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin and/or Berkshire counties, we want to hear your story!
